It’s time to set the starting lineup for Daytona 500.
Of course, qualifying for NASCAR’s biggest race is a bit different than other events. The first row was set last week when rookie Chase Elliott grabbed the pole and Matt Kenseth earned the No. 2 position, but now the other 38 spots in the Great American Race need to be determined.
That’s done via the Can-Am Duels, which have a new name this year after being called the Budweiser Duels the last couple of seasons. The first duel will determine the inside row (odd-number starting positions), the second duel will determine the outside row and the top Open team finisher in each race will secure the final two spots in the 500, so there is a lot on the line during the 150-mile battles.
